Description

This is a jar that contains an enlarged thyroid gland (two lobes and isthmus). The gland has multiple nodules that vary in size from 0.5 to 3cm in diameter, the largest is situated in the isthmus. Some nodules show areas of haemorrhage.

Diagnosis

Multinodular goiter

Notice that one cannot know about the activity of the gland from the gross appearance. This can either be a simple multinodular goiter or a toxic multinodular goiter.
