SLIDE (4): LOBAR PNEUMONIA, RED HEPATIZATION.

 

Section in lung tissue showing:

·         All the alveolar spaces contain a network of fibrin entangling many intact red blood cells and some intact polymorphs & macrophages.

·         The alveolar walls show oedema and congested capillaries.

·         The covering pleura shows fibrinous pleurisy.
