External appearance. Local destructive colored sloughs around the mouth, chin down to the neck. In homicidal cases trickles of colored sloughs extend to the back of the neck and shoulders. The color ranged from yellow to brown up to black with acids while appears whitish and slimy with alkali.

Diagnostic symptoms. Immediate severe burning pain from the mouth to the stomach with dysphagia.

- Severe vomiting with dark blood and mucus

- Associated constipation with acids and diarrhea with alkali.

Diagnostic sign. Eschars in lips with swollen tongue.

- Signs of shock: drop in B.p , weak rapid pulse and shallow rapid respiration

- Oedema of the glottis and pharynx with signs of asphyxia.

Post mortem picture. Generalized ulceration of the mucosa of the mouth, oesophagus and stomach even gastric perforation may be present.
