Specimen:
Half of kidney
Gross Pathology :
1. The kidney is markedly enlarged.
2. The outer surface and the cut section show multiple variable-sized abscess cavities with irregular yellowish necrotic lining surrounded by dark zones of congestion.
3. The pelvi-calyceal system is dilated and shows rough mucosa covered by purulent exudates.
Diagnosis :
Acute pyelonephritis
