Specimen:

Tongue, epiglottis, larynx and part of trachea.

 

Gross Pathology :

1. The mucosa of larynx and trachea is swollen (oedema) and shows scattered areas of hemorrhage and congestion.

2. A small tracheostomy (surgical opening) is seen in the upper part of trachea.

 

Diagnosis

 Acute laryngitis and tracheitis.
