Specimen:
A sagittal section of the lumbar vertebrae.
Gross Pathology:
1. Two vertebral bodies as well as their intervertebral disc are destroyed and replaced by yellow caseous material.
2. A cold abscess is formed under the anterior vertebral ligament (due to collection of caseous material).
Diagnosis:
Pott’s disease (tuberculosis of vertebrae).
