Specimen:
A segment of the ileum with its mesentery.
Gross Pathology:
1. A diverticulum 3 cm in length is seen arising from the ileum at the
anti- mesenteric border.
2. The intestine is twisted (volvulus), leading to moist gangrene of the
wall.
3. The mesentery shows dull hyperemic patches.
Diagnosis:
1. Meckel’s diverticulum.
2. Intestinal volvulus with gangrene.
3. Acute intestinal obstruction.
4. Septic peritonitis.
