Description Rheumatic Endocarditis of the Mitral Valve with Stenosis.

Specimen:
Heart with open chambers, and spleen.

Gross Pathology:
1.  Mitral cusps are thickened and show large brownish vegetations on both surfaces
2.  Hypertrophy & dilatation of all cardiac chambers except left ventricle
3.  Chordae tendineae are shortened and papillary muscle are hypertrophied
4.  The spleen is enlarged and shows pyramidal pale greyish white infarct.

Diagnosis:

1.  Chronic Rheumatic Endocarditis of the mitral valve with stenosis.
2.  Subacute infective endocarditis of the mitral valve.
3.  Hypertrophy and dilatation of all chambers except left ventricle.

4. Infarction of spleen
