Specimen:
Heart of a child with an open left ventricle and aorta.
Gross Pathology:
The mitral cusps are opaque
Multiple small greyish white vegetations are seen on the lines of contact of the cusps. The vegetations are on the atrial surface of the cusps.
Diagnosis:
Rheumatic Endocarditis of the mitral valve.
